Features of the Capita Defenders of Awesome and what they do
- Hybrid Camber Profile – Regular camber under your feet for pop and stability, then flat sections and small reverse camber sections to give it a bit more looseness and play.
- DS Select RFC Sustainable Dual Core – Poplar wood core with Beech stringers that run through the inserts to add extra strength. They don’t use any wood that has any ireggularities, or finger joints, so that it has a smooth flex through the whole board.
- Special Blend Fiberglass
Bi-axial fiberglass on the top and the bottom, to get a mix between strength and durability. Plant based Magic Bean Resin is used, which is very durable. - 2x30mm Carbon Fiber Beams
Carbon fiber beams add lightweight strength to the board. - Fortress Kevlar Bound Sidewalls
The sidewalls are wrapped with a Kevlar “S” shape that goes from the sidewall to the bottom of the core. It keeps it held together tight, so there is less chance of it separating if the sidewalls take a big hit. - Superdrive Base
A fast sintered base material, that is good at soaking up wax and keeping yout moving. - PAM16000 Topsheet
- Multitech Sublimination & Die-Cut Base
- PLT Topsheet Technology
The PLT means that the topsheet of the board has a high gloss finish, without the fiberglass pattern showing through. - 360 Degree Steel Edges
Edges that run the whole way around the board. - Full ABS Sidewalls
Pretty standard, most boards have ABS sidewalls. - 4×2 Inserts – Lots of stance options.
- Titanal Base Inlay
Little capita logo that is inlayed in the base.

How the Capita DOA rides
I rode the 156cm DOA, with size 10 ThirtyTwo Tm-Two boots, and Union Force Bindings.
I had a 22″ stance with the bindings set at +12 on the front foot and -9 on the back. I am 6 foot tall, and weigh about 150lbs.
The snow was a fairly hardpacked groomers, chunky chopped up snow in the trees, that got softer as it snowed about 5cm throughout the day.
Flex & Camber Profile
Overall the DOA has a camber profile, but it definitely doesn’t have an aggressive feel to it. After the camber section end (just outside of the bindings), there is a flat section and then has a small reverse camber section.
I would say that it is a good mix between getting the benefits of a camber board, without being so aggressive that you can still butter and be messy and not have it catch edges everywhere.
It has a medium flex, that is rated as a 5.5 out of 10 by Capita. It is solid enough at speed, and didn’t give me any moments where I felt it might slip out on me. The medium flex isn’t stiff enough to make buttering hard, it was pretty easy to hold a nice press, which I think is probably helped by the zero camber and small reverse camber sections.
Shape
It is a true twin, so like you would expect it rides just as well switch as it does in the regular direction.
Speed
It feels solid riding at high speed, and chopped up snow isn’t a problem. It didn’t chatter, and ever felt good riding fast with a flat base.
Pop
You can get good pop from the DOA, but I expected that with the camber profile and the flex rating. It doesn’t take much effort to load up the nose or tail, and it pushed back nicely
Overall
Overall the DOA is a solid board for someone who wants one board that can ride everything without a problem. I had a good hard look at this when I was buying my last board, and ended up buying the fairly similar Salomon Huck Knife because it was a little cheaper.
For the price, you get a really well rounded board, that you can push hard through turns, but still doesn’t need too much effort to butter, and isn’t a super unforgiving board. If you are looking at buying the DOA, get it early in the season, it is pretty popular and sells out quite quickly.
