Since originally writing this post, buying bindings has gotten much easier.
The answer is no, you don’t need EST bindings if you have a Channel Snowboard.
Even if you have a Burton or Endeavor Channel board, you can mount almost all new bindings to them.
The easiest way to guarantee that your bindings will fit on everything is to get Burton Re:Flex bindings. They come with 3 sets of discs, one set for the Channel, one set for normal boards, and one for the older Burton 3D Pattern.
Even if you have a Channel board, Union, Ride, Flow, Salomon and K2 all make bindings that will fit.
If you have an older Burton board with the 3D pattern, you can get Burton Re:Flex, Salomon or Flow bindings that will fit.
If you are looking at buying bindings but aren’t sure if they will fit your board, use this contact form and I’ll double check them for you.
Would Avalanche summit bindings work on a burton ripcord? Thanks
No, those bindings only work on 4×4 boards. Have a look at the Burton Freestyle, they will fit on any board.
Hi, my son just bought a Burton 2015 namedropper snowboard. Can he mount his 2013-14 Union Force bindings to this board? Is there a mounting disc that we will have to buy? Thanks very much
I don’t think that the 13-14 Forces came with a Channel compatible disk like the new ones do. I think you will need to get this disk to make it fit in the Name Dropper.
