Salomon 2023 Snowboards Overview

A bunch of new boards in the Salomon line up this season, as well as a few big names gone, or merged into new models.

What has changed this season?

The Villain and Gypsy are gone, and are replaced with the unisex Abstract.

The Ultimate Ride is also gone, which is a shame because it was one of my all time favourite boards. Also gone is the Dancehaul Pro, but that was only available at certain places last year so it might not have counted as a proper part of the line anyway.

The new unisex Highpath looks like it will sort of replace the gap left by the Ultimate Ride, so that there is a similar tapered directional board, though with the Rock Out Camber rather than Quad.

A Pro version of the Super 8 has been added, as well a bunch of changes in the HPS boards.

Salomon Camber Profiles

Except for the kids boards, there is at least some camber in every board. By far the most popular profile is the Rock Out Camber, which is on the majority of boards.

There is the more aggressive Quad Camber option, that is on the freestyle/park boards – Huck Knife, Huck Knife Pro and No Drama.

The Backseat Camber or Powder Camber is found on most of their directional freeride boards, and the Flat Out Camber is on the entry level Pulse and Lotus.

Salomon Sleepwalker

The Sleepwalker started out as a cheaper version of the Villain, with a slightly softer flex and cheaper base, which made it the better choice for jibbers. No need to spend extra money of a board you are going to ride rails on, and probably damage at some point.

Another new board this season, the Pro version (and similar to most Salomon Pro options) give it a stiffer flex, a faster base material and upgraded sidewalls.

The regular Super 8 is a very solid all-rounder, so a higher end version of this does make sense.
