Ride 2020 Snowboard Overview

There are a few new models in Ride’s 2020 lineup, especially based around the popular Warpig.

Ride Camber Profiles

With 6 different profiles, it isn’t too hard to get your head around the different designs.

Twin Hybrid Camber

A twin shape, that has a camber profile, with just a little bit of rocker on the nose and tail.

Used on the: Burnout. Helix, Kink, Back Talk

Directional Hybrid Camber

Mostly camber, but with a big rocker nose. Very similar to what other brands would call S-Camber.

Used on the: Commissioner, MTNPIG, Superpig, Bezerker, Wildlife, Magic Stick,

Twin Hybrid Rocker

A variation on the Twin Hybrid Camber, though the difference is that this has more rocker than camber.

Used on the Machete, Twinpig, Agenda, Saturday, Heartbreaker

Directional Hybrid Rocker

Has a directional shape, with the hybrid profile that has a large rocker section on the nose, and a smaller rocker section on the tail.

Used on Manic, Compact

Twin Rocker

Overall, it has a flat profile, with rocker sections on the nose and tail.

Used on the Lowride, Machete Jr

Directional Rocker

A directional shape, that has a large rocker section on the nose, small rocker on the tail and flat through the middle.

Used on the Warpig, Psychocandy

Base Materials

The same for every brand, there are the two main versions of base materials – sintered and extruded. Extruded is easier and cheaper to make, it keeps the cost of the board down, and doesn’t need much maintenance, though they aren’t very fast.

Sintered bases are much faster, but you do need to wax them. A properly maintained and waxed board with a sintered base will be quick.

There are different levels of sintered bases, the denser and harder the material, the faster it will be.

Extruded Base

A basic 1500 Ptex material, that is cheap and easy to repair.

Sintered

A harder, faster and more durable option, it is made from 4000 Ptex.

Sintered Low Friction Race Base

The highest grade sintered material, that has carbon infused for the fastest speed.

Ride 2020 Snowboards

Ride Commissioner

A stiff, aggressive, hybrid (mainly camber) board that is made to carve hard, hold a good edge and float in powder. Has the fastest base, with a stone ground structure. Carbon array 5, Carbon Slimewalls and Carbon Infused glass keep it stiff and responsive – especially in the tail.

Ride MTNPIG

One of the first variations from the Warpig, it is a much stiffer, more aggressive ride with more camber, and a stiffer tail.

Ride Algorhythm

The Algorhythm is a do everything, ride everywhere sort of board, that has a medium flex, enough camber to give a solid feel, with some rocker to get some extra float and forgiveness.

Ride Burnout

A medium flexing, twin shaped park board that is almost all camber. It has a few features designed to make it better for riding in the park – thicker edges so they are a bit tougher for riding on rails, carbon under your feet and in the sidewalls for a bit more pop and response, and a sintered base to make it easier to keep your speed up.

Ride Superpig

Although the shape looks similar, and it almost has the same name, the Superpig is a big upgrade from the Warpig. Much stiffer overall, more camber, pop and a very fast base.

Ride Bezerker

One of those boards that is an “all-mountain” design, but will do really well riding fast on groomers, or out in deep snow. A bit of rocker in the nose helps it float, while the big camber sections keep it stable and poppy for all other conditions.

Ride Helix

An asymmetrical design (smaller radius sidecut on the heelside) twin that will suit aggressive park riders. With a fairly stiff flex, fast base that comes with some good structure, it is solid enough to handle big features in the park.

Ride Warpig

Still getting more popular each season, the Warpig has 5 sizes (up from the original Small and Large when it first came out). With a wide and directional shape, you can ride it much shorter than a normal board. Mainly it has a flat profile, but with a large rocker nose and a little rocker section on the tail. A weird shaped, ride everywhere board.

Ride Twinpig

Taking a whole bunch of influence from the Warpig, but putting it into a twin park board. It still has the very wide waist widths, so you can ride it a bit shorter, and the asymmetrical sidecut makes heelside turns as easy and natural as possible.

Ride Psychocandy

ride psycocandy snowboard 2020 — Ride Psychocandy 2020

Taking a few of the features from the Warpig, the Psychocandy isn’t just a smaller womens version. It has the same profile, but with more carbon. Rather than the Carbon Array 3 that the Warpig has, it has a Carbon Array 5, as well as Carbon in the Slimewalls (on the back foot out towards the tail).
