Depending on the time of the year, the price you pay for snowboards, boots and bindings can change quite a lot.
Quick answer – Buy in February and March
In general in North America, you will find they will start getting the new season gear around about October, ready for mountains to start opening in November and December. In those couple of months you have the best chance of finding the gear you want, in the right size, but you will have to pay full retail price.
There might be small little sales before winter, or slight discounts if you pre-order boards, but I wouldn’t expect to save much.
During February you will start to see sales starting to pop up, and by March you will find almost all of the current season gear on sale, often at around 20% off. The longer you wait after march, the better the discounts will be, but the harder it will be to find gear in common sizes. In February and March, there is the best balance between savings and stores still having a good selection.
If you are pretty small or big, you might have better luck getting a good deal on boards that are harder to sell. But it is going to be a little harder if you are looking for guys boots around a size 10, or a snowboard around 155cm.
The easiest way is to use this search page, which searches 50 Snowboard sites at once, so you can pick the best deals from each store.
