Features of the Rome Crossrocket 2017
- No Hang-Ups Pop 2.0
Overall the Crossrocket has a regular camber profile, but the main difference is that the contact points (corners of the board) are lifted so they are just out of the snow. The idea is that you get the stability, pop and edge hold of a camber board, with less of a catchy feel. There is less of the catchy feel because the contacts are bent up slightly, so when you are riding with a flat base, the edges aren’t able to grab into the snow unexpectedly. Once you put the board on an edge, it goes back to acting like a camber board. Very similar to what Bataleon have been doing for years.
- Carbon Single Barrel HotRods
There is a glass rod that can slide in a barrel in the center of the board, which helps to add pop without getting in the way of the regular flex of the board. - Z-Tech 1.0
There is a 1 inch strip of Zylon that runs down the center of the board, which is made to give the board more pop. Zylon is supposed to be lighter, stronger and more poppy than carbon. - SuperPop Core Matrix
This core has three areas of lightweight wood, while the rest is long sections of poplar. - 90/90 Carbon Hybrid Laminate
There are two sections of biaxial glass, with thin bundles of carbon in the top layer. - SinterTrue Base
In the middle of the range for Rome’s bases, it has features of Sintered bases (high speed, good at soaking up wax) with less of the cost. - QuickRip Technology
The Quickrip sidecut is made to get a balance between a dboard that is easy and quick to turn at low speed, while stable and reliable at high speed. There are three sections to the sidecut, the short, mid and long. There is a tighter radius sidecut used for easy turns at slow speed, and a larger radius used for high speed, while the mid section bumps help add grip on hardpacked snow.
