Yes Jackpot

Yes Jackpot 2022 Review

The Yes Jackpot is a true twin, medium flexing freestyle board that is decent wherever you ride it.

How the Jackpot Rides

Board size: 156cm

Boots: Salomon Launch Boa 27.5

Bindings: Salomon Highlander

I am 6 foot tall and weigh 155lbs – or 183cm tall and 70kg.

I was riding this board at Big White in BC Canada. This was mid season, and there had been a few centimetres of fresh snow fallen overnight, which made the groomers really good, and slightly softened everything else up.

Camber Profile

The overall camber profile of the Jackpot did everything I expected it to. I am definitely biased towards traditional camber boards, they are what I learnt to ride on, and what I like in almost all conditions.

I am not 100% sure on the tiny details of the camber profile, but to me it felt very similar to boards with a small amount of early rise or rocker at the contact points, only because it didn’t feel catchy at all, even when my technique was pretty bad.

Flex and Pop

Yes rate the Jackpot as having a 7/10 flex rating, which didn’t seem to match up with what I felt at all.

I would have to say it felt medium soft to me, the flex reminded me straight away of the feel of my Villain or a Capita DOA (both broken in).

That isn’t at all a bad thing, I never felt like it was too soft or that riding quickly felt unstable, but it was easy to flex. It didn’t take much effort to get a good ollie, and when things went wrong there was just enough strength in the tail that it wouldn’t wash out.

Turns & Edge Hold

I don’t fully understand exactly how the MidBite is supposed to “cheat” having the narrower section between your feet, as the nose and tail are still like normal, but whatever is happening, works well.

The board is nice and quick edge to edge, and feels very strong throughout the whole turn, without an overly grippy entry or exit to a turn.

To be fair, the snow conditions were very good, so any board would do quite well, though I imagine that the Jackpot would be fine even if the snow was much harder.

Float

I wasn’t able to ride the Jackpot in any deep snow, so it never got a good test, though I wouldn’t expect a twin board with a regular width to do well anyway.

Speed

I waxed the Jackpot just before I rode it, so there was no issues with the speed at all. It was nice and quick on the groomers, as well as in the little fresh snow that was around.

Overall

Overall the Jackpot is a very solid twin board. Although the flex to me felt much softer than advertised, I view that as a plus. It is quick, nice to turn and feels solid riding fast, and is still playful riding slow.
