Yes Asym

Yes Asym 2014 Snowboard Review

One thing that you are going to see more and more is Asym boards. Basically, the sidecut (the giant circle that is cut out of the side of the board) is different on the heelside and the toeside.

The heelside of the board has a deeper sidecut (cut from a smaller radius circle) which makes it easier to initiate, hold and get power from your turns. The easier toeside has a larger radius sidecut.

Although asymmetrical designs have been around for a long time in snowboards, it is just recently that they are starting to get more popular again. Other Asym boards from different brands are the GNU Park Pickle and the Ride Helix.

As for the camber, the Yes Asym has the CamRock profile, which has the regular camber shape between the bindings, and rocker on the tip and the tail of the board.

The base is sintered, so it is hard and fast. Designed for freestyle and all mountain riding, the Asym has a centered stance, so riding regular and switch will have the same feel on turns.

It has a 1 year warranty.

Tech in the  Yes Asym (and what it means):

  • Triax over Biax glass – Three layers of laminates on the top, which give more torsional (twisting) strength and keeps it stiff  from nose to tail. Then it has Biax (two) layers on the bottom.
  • Die-cut sintered 2000 base – Die cut just means that the graphic on the base is cut out of different colored sections of base, so it looks very clear. Sintered is the best type of base, it is hard, fast and does a good job at holding wax.
  • Wide waist – a little better for those with bigger sized boots, so you get less toe and heel drag.
  • Asymmetrical twin – get a more natural feel on your heelside turns.
