Burton Feather 2016 Review
The Flat Top Bend on the Feather has a flat section under your feet, so there is a stable feel riding straight and fast, that changes in to an early rise rocker from outside your bindings to the nose and tail.
The early rise rocker is kept out of the snow, so you get a loose and smooth turning ride, that doesn’t want to catch.
It has a directional shape, which means that there is a slightly longer nose than tail. The directional shape combined with the taper keeps turning easy, and the longer nose helps keep you afloat in deep snow.
Although it is a directional board, riding it switch will have the same flex “feel” as if you are riding it regular.
The core of the board is made up of a combination of hard and soft woods, that area made to get a balance between strength, weight and response.
To add some extra strength near the toe and heel edge, the wood is rotated so that the grain is aimed towards the edge, rather than towards to tip and tail.
The Extruded Base is tough, and won’t need much maintenance. If you do damage it, extruded bases are easy to repair.
It has Biax Fiberglass, which means there is two layer of it on the board. It keeps the flex of the board soft and forgiving.
It has The Channel system for mounting bindings, which work best with Burton EST bindings. Rather than the normal 4×4 screw mounts, it has two long channels that let you mount bindings in any number of positions, without being restricted to certain angles or stance widths.
