Never Summer Snowtrooper 2017
The Never Summer Snowtrooper is an board that can do it all, and built on the history of the Legacy and SL models.
Features of the Never Summer Snowtrooper
- Matte Topsheet
Matte, not shiny topsheet.
- Carbon VXR Laminate Technology
There are carbon V shapes that extend out from the inserts, to the effective edge. It is made to get good edge to edge response, and helping to make the board stiffer torsionally. There are extra V’s at the tip and tail of the board, to get the most pop when you load up the nose or tail.
- Extended Transition Rocker Camber Profile
Their original hybrid camber design, which has 3 main pressure areas on the board. There is a rocker section between your feet, which changes to camber underneat your feet, then back out to rocker on the tip and tail of the board. You end up with a playful ride, but it still gives you a stable and solid ride when you need it.
- Vario Power Grip Sidecut
There are a few different radiuses, which are combined to give the board extra contact points, so you get better edge hold. Out towards the nose and tail, there are deep radius sections, which change to shallow radius sections, then to a straight section in the middle of the board.
- Low Profile Tip/Tail
Low profile (thinner) tip and tail keep the highest amount of board touching the snow – which helps for float, pop for ollies and nollies and gives you more stability when your landings aren’t perfect, while keeping the weight down.
- STS Pretensioned Fiberglass
Never Summers description – The world’s best snowboard fiberglass, period. Our STS Pre-Tensioned Fiberglass is an advanced, pre-hardened, pre-tensioned, layered laminate that has added elastomer stringers, between the 9 degree and 0 degree glasss fibers (the length of the effective edge). This produces a stronger bond between the individual glass laminates giving our snowboards unmatched strength, edge hold and performance.
- Bi-Lite Fiberglass
This has some of the strength features of the STS fiberglass, but is much lighter.
- NS Custom Flightcore
The most complicated of the Never Summer cores, it is made of premium hardwood and very light softwood, that are combined with vertical laters of vibration dampers. They are made to absorb more vibrations the faster you ride.
- RDS 2 Damping System
There are three narrower laminated damping layers, that are made to get a combination of vibration, absorbtion and stability. It is made to get a nice mix of stability for freeriding, and liveliness for freestyle riding.
- Elastomeric Underfoot Stabilizers
Under the bindings are areas that are made to absorb vibration, keep the board stable at speed and help reduce foot fatigue (by getting rid of vibrations).
- Sintered P-tex Sidewall
P-Tex sidewalls have the advantage of being able to handle colder temperatures compared to ABS sidewalls, that can crack.
- Durasurf XT Sintered 4501 Base
It is a high density base material that is fast and durable.
- P-tex Tip and Tail Protection
P-Tex surround the ends of the wood core to protect it against impacts, and help to reduce vibrations.
- Full Wrap Metal Edge
Edges that run the whole way around the board.

PERFECTION. It does not get better for the off-piste enthusiast. I bought the 160 Snowtrooper X (equipped with Burton Cartel 2015 bindings) and its by and far the fastest and most playful board I’ve set foot in. Stability is excellent, especially at higher speeds and it floats so smoothly that even loose granular starts to feel like pow. This board is also very forgiving and quickly responds to last minute adjustments at both high and low speeds. My favorite part of this board is how it seems to always want to go. Its like riding a horse that has to always finish in 1st place; it will listen when the rider tells it to hold back but its always waiting for that moment when it can totally cut loose and go for broke.
Had a NS Cobra, loved it, but it has a hard time holding a sollid edge on hard pack. Did my research for something that could open a line on hard pack and still float in powder. I have to say the SnowTrooper is that all mountain qwiver killer. Took this thing out on a pow day, killed it, great float and surfy feel. Took it out on a groomer day, killed it. This bioard holds an edge like a traditional camber board but is still forgiving like a rocker. Way better edge hold than my Cobra. If you want a board to build confidence at speed, this is your board. Great pop of jumps and rollers, easu to ride switch. Damp board but still pretty stiff, ide give it a 6 on stiffness. NS hit a hoke run with this new extended camber contact points or whatever they call it…haha. God cant wait to get her back on the hill on Friday. Buy this deck!
