Features of the Saga Anomie 2L Jacket

  • 15k Waterproof Rating
Quite a good waterproof rating, high enough that even in really wet snow you won’t have to worry about getting wet.
  • 10k Breathability Rating
A solid breathability rating that makes sure that jacket still breathes when you sweat, and doesn’t get stuffy.
  • Saga-Tek 2L Fabric
    Two layer fabric.
  • DWR Finish
The DWR stands for Durable Water Repellent, which is a coating on the outside of the jacket that helps water to bead and roll off, rather than try to soak in.
  • Moisture Wicking Liner
The mesh liner on the inside of the jacket is made to wick moisture (sweat) away from your body, as well as helping to keep heat in the jacket so you don’t get too cold.
  • Underarm Vents
Mesh lined vents on each underarm of the jacket, so you can open them to get rid of extra heat when the weather is warmer than you expected.
  • Signature Fit
The Signature fit is the classic Saga look, with plenty of room to move around, and add layers underneath. Although it is a looser fit, it’s not super baggy unless you size up.
  • Media Pocket
A place to keep your phone inside the jacket, that has a clear plastic section, so you can see the screen without having to take it all the way out.
  • Wrist Gaiters
Soft and stretchy wrist gaiters with a thumb hole, which will stop snow from getting up and into your sleeve if you crash and put your hands down.
  • Storm Flap
  • Storm Skirt
There is a soft and stretchy storm (powder) skirt, that will connect up and make a tight seal between your jacket and pants, so that snow can’t get up and inside your jacket. If you don’t want it, you can remove it by unzipping it from the jacket.
  • YKK Zippers
  • Fully Taped Seams
Taped seams so that moisture can’t get into the jacket through the seams.
  • Fixed Hood

I bought this jacket last year, because I was pretty impressed with my Saga Fatigue pants I bought the year before. I am about 6 foot tall, 150lbs, and I bought the Large. I didn’t want it to be super baggy, but the main thing that I was worried about was the length of the arms. I didn’t want to have the sleeves riding up at all, but decided not to go with the XL just for the arm length.

When it arrived everything was fine, there was plenty of length in the sleeves, and it wasn’t too baggy. I bought the Acid Trip color, which is tie die look and fluoro/neon. The pictures can’t really do it justice, but the neon sleeves and pockets are very bright.

Overall, the jacket has loads of features, but the main ones that I always look for are wrist gaiters, powder skirt and underarm vents. I have made the mistake in the past of buying a jacket just because it looks good, but I really miss those features when they aren’t there.

Wrist gaiters are a super nice feature, if you every accidentally put your hand or arm into the snow, the gaiter stops your sleeve from filling up with snow. The second really useful feature is having underarm vents, because even if the breathability rating of the jacket isn’t super high, you can always get rid of extra heat through the vents.

The last is the powder skirt or storm skirt. They make a big difference on powder days, the longer you can stay dry the better.

The Anomie has millions of pockets, there are the four main ones on the front of the jacket, which each have two sections. The normal top section which is covered by a flap, and a side zip entry to a smaller section. On the left arm there is a small zip pocket, which is good for keeping a ticket or pass there, and it is in a good spot if your mountain has RFID gates.

There is a media pocket on the inside of the jacket, which has a plastic window so you can see your phone without having to open everything. If you don’t want to keep your phone on the inside of your jacket, you can put it in the top left chest pocket, which has a little opening so you can feed your earphone cables inside the jacket.
