The Burton Imperial is a quick lacing boot, that sits medium/high in the Burton range.
Features of the Burton Imperial
- Speed Zone Lacing System
Speed Zone laces are fast to do up, with each of the two laced tightening either the upper or lower part of the boot.
- New England Ropes
The laces are made by New England Ropes, which are tough enough that they have a lifetime warranty.
- S4 Shell Panels
- 1:1 Firm Flex PowerUp Tongue
The tongue of the boot is made with dual density material, so that you get a durable tongue that has a good rebound effect when you flex the boot forwards.
- Total Comfort Construction
The idea of this is that the boots come new with a “broken in” feel, rather than being super stiff when they are new, and then sloppy when they get older.
- Snow-Proof Internal Gusset
There is a gusset that is made to seal the lower section of the boot, so that snow won’t get in through the gap next to the tongue and the liner.
- Aegis Antimicrobial Coating
Helps keep the smell away.
- Imprint 3 Liner
- Focus Cuff
- Rubber Ice Spikes
Just some little spikes that help give a bit of extra grip on ice.
- B3 Gel
Some soft cushioning, that is made to deal with repeated impacts, that doesn’t get hard or worn out in cold conditions.
- Sleeping Bag Reflective Foil
The foil sits under your feet, which reflects heat back into your feet.
- ESS Support Shank
Fancy name for arch support.
- Level 2 Molded EVA Footbed
A lightweight footbed, that is good at absorbing shock.
- Vibram EcoStep Rubber Outsole Design
Made of 30% recycled material, it’s a grippy outsole material.
- Low-Profile EST Optimized Midsole
Low-Profile, lightweight and has a reduced ramp angle.
- Shrinkage Footprint Reduction Technology
It doesn’t make any difference in the size you buy, so if you are a size 10, you still get a size 10 boot, but it has the footprint of a size 9. The smaller the footprint the better, you’ll end up with less toe and heel drag.
Not as stiff as some say, but supportive and comfy. Great vibram sole, large toe box, and separate speed laces. I don’t see the reduced footprint, but they aren’t bulky. Wish for more material around the tongue to keep snow out.
Coming from the Burton Invader which are a 2 flex to these was initially a bit of a shock. These boots felt so stiff and responsive I didn’t know what to do. After a day on the mountain I began to get used to them and now they’re absolutely amazing. Turns are effortless and quick, they’re very responsive and extremely comfortable. They’re great in deep Baker pow, great in the park at Stevens, overall awesome boot.
after a season of renting various rental boots, im glad i spent the extra cash on these boots. They are light and have a noticeable difference in quality and feel.
